Artist Guy Laramee in this series makes intricate carved book landscapes by cutting away at the pages of old, useless encyclopedias. The artist explains that by doing so, he his returning mountains of old knowledge to what they were before, just mountains. If he keeps carving, certain mountains (of knowledge) become hills or plains, further diminishing their importance. He sees his work as the embodiment of the rise and fall of outdated knowledge. To us it sounds like a perfect use for old school textbooks!
