Here’s a window into what the future of social media may look like. A group called Red Pepper Labs is testing a system where people are checked in to local businesses using a camera outside that records them as they walk in. Through facial recognition technology the system identifies you, checks you in, and then sends you coupons or deals, based on your likes and preferences, from the venue you are visiting. The service would be a voluntary one where users sign up to receive these loyalty perks.
