While on a road trip through Australia, British artist Bruce Munro was inspired by a phenomena called a dessert blossom which is the sudden appearance of blooming flowers following a rainfall. Witnessing this event sparked his imagination and he eventually came up with his concept of the field of light. The idea is that thousands of lights shaped like flowers lie in a field and only turn on at night illuminating the landscape symbolizing the appearance of those flowers. The field of light has been displayed in various locations over the years with a typical exhibition containing over 6,000 lights. We’d love to see these along the highways giving drivers a bit of visual stimulation!
