The concept of having indoor greenery is about to grow well beyond having a few potted plants around the house. That is the dream of Japanese plant artist Makoto Azuma. In collaboration with Unitika, a natural home accessories company, Azuma had developed an incredible moss carpet for interiors. Dubbed the “Terramac,” the
moss carpet utilizes a tight mesh of 3D-knitted plant based fibers underweight the moss to support the roots. The beauty of the plant based fiber support is that it’s totally biodegradable leaving nothing more than carbon dioxide and water after 10 years. The meaning behind the name Terramac is “terra” meaning earth and “mac” meaning sun in Latin.
