Ham The Astrochimp

Vintage photos of HAM the Astrochimp who had the honor of being the first chimpanzee launched into space by American Space Program. His launch was January 31, 1961 where he reached a low orbit altitude for 16 minutes and performed a number of tasks showing scientists that humans could function in space. Ham survived the launch, and lived until 1983.
