On this day in 2005, Peter Jackson’s remake of the 1933 movie King Kong, premiered. The original King Kong movie inspired several movie directors to make sequels such as the Son of King Kong in 1933, King Kong vs. Godzilla in 1962, King Kong Escapes in 1967 and King Kong Lives in 1987. Besides the 2005 remake, there was also a remake in 1976 produced by Dino DeLaurentis starring Jeff Bridges. From the pictures below you can see that the original 1933 King Kong movie not only inspired movie producers, but also a host of toy manufacturers as well. Needless to say, Kong was all the rage.
