On this day in 1922, British archaeologist Howard Carter discovered, while in the Egypt’s Valley of the Kings, a step which ultimately lead to the tomb of the famous boy-king, Tutankhamen, popularly know as “King Tut.” The pyramid which housed King Tut is one of the more impressive examples of a step pyramid. These pyramids were built with successive layers of stone, until the final height was reached. Below you will find other examples of these pyramids that can be found in many parts of the world.
