On November 8, 1951, Yankees catcher Yogi Berra was voted the American League’s most valuable player for the first time in his career. Besides being a great baseball player, Yogi Berra was also famous for his quotes. “It ain’t over till it’s over” is probably the most well-known, followed by “I really didn’t say everything I said.” Many believe that the Yogi Berra’s dry, witty personality served as the inspiration for Hanna Barbara’s famous character Yogi Bear. The creators of the character never admitted this. Nevertheless, we find it good reason to honor the great baseball player as well as the colorful personality Yogi Berra that may have evolved from him.
